About “John Weiner”
John Weiner is a medical consultant in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases and asthma.
After completing his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, John obtained specialist qualifications in internal medicine (clinical immunology and allergy) and pathology (anatomical pathology).
John is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia
He spent 18 months as a Fellow at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Centre, Washington, DC.
John subsequently became the Director of Pathology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, and was on the Steering Group that developed the National Asthma Strategy in Australia.
He has been a visiting allergist at the Alfred Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pathology and Immunology at Monash University, and was a visiting consultant to the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap Central Australia (Australia/US) and later to Alice Springs Hospital in Central Australia. He is a member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy.
He was co-editor of the Ask The Expert website of the World Allergy Organisation for three years, answering questions from allergy colleagues around the world.
