A/Prof Daevyd Rodda is a renowned orthopaedic surgeon recognised globally for his extensive expertise in hip and knee replacement surgeries. He specialises in minimally invasive techniques and is one of the pioneers of the anterior approach for hip replacements and patient-specific, robotic, kinematically aligned knee replacements, performing a high volume of these complex procedures each year.

Dr Rodda is not only a highly skilled surgeon but also a prominent mentor, holding the unique position of supervising the only international fellowship on the Sunshine Coast in anterior hip and knee replacement surgery. This prestigious role involves instructing both local and international orthopaedic surgeons in advanced surgical techniques over extensive months-long training periods. He also acts as a surgeon proctor, mentoring experienced orthopaedic surgeons from across Australia to advance their skills in joint replacement surgery. In 2023, numerous surgeons travelled to learn from him, enhancing their practices with techniques mastered under his guidance, with some deciding to remain on the Sunshine Coast to continue their professional development.

Dr Rodda leads in the implementation of rapid-recovery protocols for joint replacement. He developed the Medibank no-gap rapid recovery program, which has been adopted by over 20 hospitals nationwide and is supported by extensive scientific research. His innovative efforts have significantly influenced joint replacement practices across Australia.

In partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Dr Rodda is actively involved in multiple research projects, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the creation of a Graduate Certificate Program in Anterior Hip Replacement that integrates a panel of national and international experts.

Dedicated to healthcare equality, Dr Rodda founded the Sporting Chance Foundation, which aids young Indigenous athletes with sports injuries through surgical and rehabilitation services.
