About “Dr Tiow-Hoe Goh”
Dr Tiow-Hoe Goh, FRACP, DDU, FACC, FSCAI, FCSANZ, first came to Melbourne after obtaining his medical degree in 1969 from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He trained as a Cardiologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and subsequently sub-specialised in Paediatric Cardiology. He introduced the M-Mode Echocardiography and founded the echocardiography department at the Royal Children’s hospital.
As a pioneer in his field, Dr Goh introduced several interventional techniques to Australia such as the balloon angioplasty of pulmonary valve stenosis, aortic valve stenosis and recoarctation of the aorta, 2D and colour flow Doppler studies, Rashkind patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) devices for PDA closure, coil occlusion of PDA and the use of the Rashkind umbrella device for closure of muscular ventricular septal defects. In 1998, Dr T.H. Goh pioneered the use of Amplatzer muscular ventricular septal defect (VSD) for closure of muscular VSD.
