March is Endometriosis Awareness month!

Endometriosis occurs when some of the tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (womb), called the endometrium, grows outside of the uterus. Endometriosis is a progressive, chronic condition often causing pelvic pain. Symptoms may vary from woman to woman but can include painful periods, pain during sex, irregular bleeding, feeling bloated and infertility.

Endometriosis affects 200 million women worldwide and 1 in 10 women in Australia suffer from it at some point in their life.

Despite it being so common, diagnosis is often delayed or missed altogether.

Awareness is everything – should you experience symptoms of pelvic pain, make sure to see your health care provider for further advice!
